In the Kitchen with INSP: Creamy Sweet Potatoes

State Plate:

The real Taylor Hicks is traveling the country, sampling each state’s most iconic foods in INSP’s new original show, State Plate. In a previous post we sent our virtual, time-traveling “Taylor” up Walton’s Mountain to sample some virtual Apple Cake. Now, he’s off to the mountain again—just in time for Thanksgiving! What savory side dish might he enjoy? Try this recipe in real life!

Creamy Sweet Potatoes

6 sweet potatoes
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup cream
A pinch of nutmeg to taste
Brown sugar and pecans to taste

Wash and boil potatoes until they’re tender. Drain, remove skins and cube. Melt butter and mix with potatoes, followed by milk and cream. Add salt, nutmeg, brown sugar, and pecans to taste. Simmer 10 minutes.
