Linda Evans captivated audiences with her elegance, warmth, and quiet strength—qualities that defined her most iconic roles and made her a beloved figure in both Westerns and primetime drama. Best known as Audra Barkley on The Big Valley and Krystle Carrington on Dynasty, Evans brought depth and dignity to every performance.
Born November 18, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut, Evans moved to California at a young age. She attended Hollywood High School, where a drama teacher once deemed her too shy for advanced acting classes. That early doubt only fueled her determination. She began her career with guest roles on shows like Bachelor Father and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, eventually landing her breakout role in The Big Valley in 1965.
As Audra Barkley, Evans portrayed a character who could ride, shoot, and speak her mind—all while maintaining a sense of grace and femininity. Off-screen, she formed a close bond with co-star Barbara Stanwyck, who became a mentor and even gifted her designer clothes to help her feel confident and elegant on set.
Evans continued to build her career through the 1970s and ’80s, culminating in her role on Dynasty, where she played Krystle Carrington opposite Joan Collins. The show became a cultural phenomenon, and Evans earned a Golden Globe for her performance. Despite the glitz and glamour, she remained grounded, often retreating to her home in Washington State, where she embraced a quieter, more spiritual lifestyle.
Her life beyond the screen has been just as rich. She’s survived a plane crash, danced with Fred Astaire, and even had Dolly Parton rent her Beverly Hills home for nearly a decade. Known for her generosity, creativity, and love of beauty, Evans has always brought a personal touch to everything she does—from acting to gift-giving.
