Rancher Jacob “Big Jake” McCandles didn’t get ultra-rich because of his smooth-talking, charming personality. He’s known more for his deadly accurate gunslinging skills than his successful business skills. Big Jake is a wanderer, clinging to an “Old West” that is rapidly modernizing and populating. He hasn’t been home to his ranch in 10 years. It’s no wonder his estranged wife, Martha, and three grown sons want little to do with him, and that many people he meets are amazed that he’s still alive! Big Jake isn’t the only one desperately holding onto the Old West life. The murderous Fain gang raids the McCandles ranch, killing many and kidnapping Little Jake, Big Jake’s grandson, demanding $1 million in ransom. Martha knows of only one man, gritty and mean enough to hunt Fain and save Little Jake—his grandpa. Big Jake’s mission is to rescue the grandson he never met and see that the brutal kidnappers get the justice they deserve. But this arduous journey brings the craggy cowboy the unexpected opportunity to reconcile with his sons, which in his own gruff way, he embraces.
