Gunshots and Gingham! Don’t Mess with these Wild West Women!

Men might have held the power, but these gutsy women ruled the Wild West on their own terms. From saloon owners to sharpshooters, outlaws to entrepreneurs, good or bad, they left their mark on history.

Meet sharpshooter Annie Oakley, pioneer physician Dr. Susan Anderson, “Bandit Queen” Pearl Hart, temperance advocate Carrie Nation, writer Laura Ingalls Wilder, fearless freed slave turned U.S. Mail carrier “Stagecoach Mary,” and many other women who lived their lives unconstrained by what society told them what they should be. They carved their own paths, made their own choices, and reaped the rewards or suffered the consequences of those decisions. They were strong, willful, brave, loving, caring, unapologetic, and bold. They’re legendary women of the Wild West.
