Legend has it that there’s a fortune in gold hidden in the Cañón del Oro—the fabled Canyon of Gold. Whether or not it is protected by Apache spirits depends on who you ask, but either way, living, breathing Apaches have claimed the gold as theirs, and they say that no white man will ever lay hands on it.

The legend also says that Marshal Sam Mackenna is the only living person who has seen the map of the canyon, knows where it’s buried, and how to get there. That’s what makes Mackenna so interesting to Mexican outlaw John Colorado and his band of desperadoes.

Colorado also wants to find the gold, so he kidnaps Mackenna. For his part, Mackenna claims there is no gold, but Colorado doesn’t believe him. He’d like to kill him, but to find the gold, he must keep Mackenna alive.

On the long and perilous route, Colorado, his gang, and McKenna are joined by renegade soldiers, angry Indians, cold-blooded killers, and others driven by greed and “gold fever.” Everybody has hopes and dreams of finding gold—and they’ll kill to realize those plans.

Yes, there might be gold for the taking, but where there’s gold, there’s also danger. Between the legend of the Apache spirits and the very real Apaches who will stop at nothing to protect their treasure, the frenzied gold hunters could pay a hefty price for disturbing this sacred site.
