Elizabeth is the youngest of the seven Walton children, and a true inspiration as she grows from a very young child into a young woman during the course of the series. She is inquisitive, outspoken, and sensitive; a sharp intellect who shares John-Boy’s love of reading and knack for writing.
INSP viewers chose their favorite Walton – here’s what some said about Elizabeth…
From ~ Mary, North Carolina
She represents childhood unspoiled, when playing outside was the activity of the day.
From ~ Maria, Delaware
She is so sweet and always has lots of questions. I love her hair and freckles.
From ~ Elaine, Indiana
Elizabeth is my favorite Walton because she reminds me of one of my childhood friends!
From ~ Brynda, Michigan
Elizabeth in her youth is naturally so full of curiosity, and full of innocence. Joy and spunk exude from the bright eyed, freckled face of this little redhead. She in her everyday living can only add humor to her little, but large character; to which I am guaranteed a smile in every episode.
From ~ David, Ohio
Her looks, personality and innocence remind me of my niece.
From ~ Barbara, Ohio
Because she always wanted to know what everyone was doing and she cared about them. I named my daughter after her. I love her Red hair! I have red hair.
From ~ Kristina, Montana
I can relate to her I am the youngest child and the youngest female grandchild in a really close family.
From ~ Rebecca, Florida
Because she always says just the cutest things and she’s the youngest. And she’s been my favorite Walton forever, since I started watching it years ago.
From ~ Karen, Florida
My favorite Walton is Elizabeth because she was the baby of the family and I am the baby of my family. I used to pretend I was her when I was a kid.
From ~ Nicole, California
Because I heard that she loves dolls just like I do.
From ~ Yim Lai, California
I am a middle child and I often felt ignored and pushed aside. Elizabeth being the youngest was also ‘shoved aside’ most of the time by the other children. Not deliberately, but it happens being the youngest; just as it was the way for me being the middle child. I empathized with that very much. But Elizabeth has such spunk and smarts about her, so young and yet able to hold her own against the other more ‘seasoned’ family members. Soon her name became synonymous for me with spunk, smarts and endearing. When I arrived in America and was pondering on an English name for myself I decided to take on the name ‘Elizabeth’. To this day people ask me how I came about this name and I tell them and that always bring a smile to their face.

Elizabeth was always full of questions, seeking answers for things she wondered about. She never hesitated to ask anyone anything about what they were doing, or a word they used she didn’t understand. another thing about Elizabeth is she always “watched’ the lifestyle and choices her brother and sister’s made and would base what she was, or wasn’t going to do when she got to be their age-for instance-she wasn’t ever going to have a boyfriend, or get married- she wanted to be a tomboy all her life-didn’t want to wear girl clothes and such. She got to do alt with her brother’s and even grandpa whom paid her more attention than her sisters. She liked to get dirty too! She didn’t want to get married either, so as not to possibly get a separation afterwards- and she didn’t want to be separated from grandpa, he was her best friend. She watched everyone and learned from their mistakes and she thought of how their actions affected their life and thus she was a critical thinker in those regards to deciding on what she did, or didn’t want to do when she grew-up, by the choices her siblings made.

She can be so sweet and yet so temperamental. Her pigtails and freckles make her appearance so adorable. For a young girl like her to play her part so well, shows just how talented Elizabeth really is. She seems to “fit in” well with everyone on the show. She brings out the “child” in all of us. I vote for Elizabeth.
From ~ Faye, Missouri
She was so genuine in the series, always appeared to be NOT acting, plus she was so sweet & innocent. The others WERE her grandparents, parents, and siblings.
From ~ Jennifer, Indiana
Because I could relate to her the best when I watched the Waltons as a child, I always wanted bright red hair like her and my brother!
From ~ Kathleen, Massachusetts
I had always envied Elizabeth having all those older brothers and sisters. She is so cute with her braids and red hair. I always thought she had the best place in the Walton family being the youngest. She had the wisdom of Grandparents, parents and older siblings to take advantage of. That is why Elizabeth has always had a special place in my heart.
From ~ Susan, Missouri
I would love to have had the childhood she lives.
From ~ Belva, North Carolina
Because she always come up with the smartest ideas and she is the baby and she always is so lively on program.
From ~ Bonnie, Kansas
Elizabeth has such innocence about her.
From ~ Rosemary, Ohio
Every time we watch it (which is every night), she reminds us of our baby (she is 27) daughter.
From ~ Ruth, Michigan
Because she reminds me of me when I was a little girl … red hair, running around barefoot.
From ~ Ronald, Georgia
She’s the little one who grew up on TV.
From ~ Kay, Mississippi
I was pregnant in 1974 when I saw Elizabeth (Kami Cotler) on the show and I told my husband that if we had a little girl, I wanted to name her Kami and we did. She is grown and married now and has four little girls of her own. I would love for them to see every episode of the Waltons and the little girl for whom their mother was named. Thank you!
From ~ Mindy, Pennsylvania
Being the oldest child I was the one who was the “experimental” child. Watching Elizabeth she was always good and seemed to get away with just about anything, which was more then I got away with.
From ~ Dawn, Indiana
Since I have been younger Elizabeth has always my favorite. I told myself when I had a little girl I would name her Elizabeth. Well, I had a little girl and her name is Elizabeth. Still to this day I watch The Waltons. If I miss it at 1pm, I will watch in the evening at 8pm.
From ~ Kathy, Kentucky
Being the youngest … I just relate to her. I love all the Waltons… it is hard to choose just one. It is my all-time favorite show. I’ve watched it when it first came out. I still watch it today. Love it!!!
From ~ Vicki, Pennsylvania
She was the youngest in the family, like I am. I didn’t grow up in as big a family like she did, but always wished I had. We got to watch her grow up. I truly love the show and sometimes wish I could have grown up in that era.
