Business Analyst

Reports To: Director of Process Management

The Process Management Office of INSP is responsible for:

Project Management

  • Coordinating the planning, execution, and completion of large and small projects in accordance with PMO process standards via cross-functional project teams.

Business Analysis and Process Mapping

  • Supporting the development of applications and system solutions by working with stakeholders to define and analyze business needs with both current and desired workflow processes, ultimately translating them into specific and justifiable requirements for business process mapping, process re-engineering and technology deployment.

Applications/Process Training

  • Supporting the organization with process, application, and related training to enhance overall staff proficiency

This position is required to operate in each of these roles from time to time and therefore requires a diverse skill set.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Business Analysis and Process Mapping

  • Assist INSP departments in developing tactical and strategic product, service and/or program specifications to support the department’s goals (financial, quality, production, customer/partner service, operational efficiency, market share, etc.).
  • Work closely with departments to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve business processes

Review, analyze, and create detailed documentation of current and desired business systems based on departmental needs, including workflow, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify supporting technology

  • Coordinate the development of all approved business and functional specifications for smaller, approved deployments. Review “Use Case” and other requirements documentation with IT project staff and/or vendor staff (as appropriate) to ensure those requirements are understood and adequately addressed in their technical planning documents

Project Management

  • Provide comprehensive definition of project objectives and scope via a Project Charter, in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Create and assign project roles and responsibilities, outcomes, and measures for the success of the team
  • Prepare, monitor and report on deliverables, budgets, cost estimations, timelines and resource allocations for each project
  • Document and maintain cross-functional Project Plans (with complete Work Break Out Structures) across affected departments, using MS Project
  • Drive project progress, milestones and deliverables through scheduled follow-up meetings and ad-hoc communication with team members

Applications/Process Training

  • Act as training resource for project management tools and processes, as well as other areas of expertise

Project Management

  • Familiarity with project management software, including MS Project
  • Working knowledge of Project Management processes, and process-oriented analysis

Business Analysis and Project Mapping

  • Strong business orientation, with a focus on improving business operations and increasing revenues
  • Clear understanding of the Process Engineering environment with related toolsets
  • Formal training on Process Engineering topics preferred

Training

  • Command of Project Management and/or Business Analysis subject matter and related tools
  • Experience and/or formal training instructing adult audiences in the use of technology concepts and/or tools

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • years experience in a demanding Project Management environment or 4 years of process mapping, gap analysis and business process re-engineering, or 4 years of combined experience
  • One to two years experience working in Non-profits preferred
  • Technical background preferred
