The Hunt for Red October

“Once more, we play our dangerous game, a game of chess against our old adversary – The American Navy. For forty years, your fathers before you and your older brothers played this game and played it well. But today, the game is different. We have the advantage.” – Russian Submarine Captain Marko Ramius

The plot twists and turns, and keeps you firmly planted on the edge of your seat! This high-tech thriller, based on the bestseller by Tom Clancy, launched the series of taut tales and hit movies starring the hero character, Jack Ryan.

It is November 1984. Captain Marko Ramius holds the prestigious and weighty position of commander aboard Red October, the ultimate Russian nuclear submarine, a boat so technologically-advanced, it can navigate stealth, undetected by sonar. It is the most lethal killing machine on earth.

On this fateful day, Ramius leaves port to conduct exercises along with attack submarine, V. K. Konovalov, commanded by one of his former students. Ramius knows his instructions, but he has something else in mind. Once at sea, Ramius orders the crew to head to the Atlantic Ocean, right off the coast of The United States.

By the next morning, both the Soviets and the Americans discover Ramius has gone rogue. The U.S. plans for an unauthorized nuclear attack that would surely lead to WWIII. The Russians deploy most of their navy to the Atlantic with orders to sink Red October. Both sides are desperate to get to Ramius and the submarine he stole.

After presenting the worst-case scenario to Vice Admiral James Greer and other officials, CIA Analyst and US Marine vet, Jack Ryan begins the near impossible job of finding the undetectable sub before Ramius launches a missile, before the Russians destroy it, and before the American submarine, USS Dallas receives orders to attack.

Jack is up for the mission, but he has a different theory about the rogue Russian commander. He believes Ramius wants to defect. Meanwhile, aboard Red October, a Russian secret agent is up to no good, unbeknownst to Ramius.

In a dangerous rendezvous with USS Dallas in the middle of the ocean, Jack boards the submarine, and tries to convince Commander Bart Mancuso to contact Ramius.

Now the perilous game begins. Jack must find Red October and discover Ramius’ true intent before the first missile launches and the world takes up arms in a war that could obliterate nations.
