Christmas with a Capital C

Daniel Baldwin stars as Mitch Bright, a ruthless atheist attorney in this heartwarming film that reinforces the true meaning of Christmas.

Dan Reed is the mayor of Trapper Falls, a small town in Alaska. He is also co-owner of an adventure travel business with his brother, Greg. Every year, they take time from their work and personal lives to gather the town together for an all-out celebration of Christmas, including a festive school play, a community Christmas tree, “Merry Christmas” signs and the town’s centerpiece: a large Nativity scene in front of City Hall.

But this may be the year the Christmas spirit dies in Trapper Falls. After more than 20 years living an extravagant life in a big city, successful attorney Mitch Bright returns to his Alaska roots, just in time to witness Dan, his high school rival, constructing the platform for the Nativity scene.

Mitch, an avowed atheist, is highly offended, not only by the blatant Christian display, but by the fact that it is located on town property and funded by town money. Immediately, he files an injunction to ban the town’s most beloved tribute to the holiday season, citing the separation of church and state. But he doesn’t stop there. He also wants the very words, “Merry Christmas” deleted from all commercial outlets, and several business owners and retailers jump on board to comply. Finally, he carries his rivalry with Dan to the ultimate degree, and throws his hat into the race for mayor to oust his former high school classmate from power. Mitch, though quite vocal about his opinions, is a real charmer and it seems as if Dan’s position in town is a lost cause. But what is Mitch hiding? What went wrong in the city that brings him back to the town he couldn’t wait to leave?

When hope is at its lowest, Dan’s wife, Kristin and daughter, Makayla, who has the role of an angel in the Christmas pageant for the first time, devise a plan that’s so simple and sincere. But will it be enough to open the eyes and hearts of the townspeople? Even Mitch?
