Anne returns to Green Gables and finds letters revealing family secrets written by her birth father. She goes to him for answers. Will he disappoint her again?

Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning

Now, middle-aged, Anne returns to Green Gables for an extended stay, hoping for inspiration to write the play she promised a theater producer friend. But that’s not the only reason for her retreat. World War II is ending and her only son, Dominic, has not yet returned. Distraught with worry, she needs a distraction. She gets more than her share when she discovers some old letters hidden under the floorboards in the house. With a writer’s curiosity she reads the weathered pages seeking a glimpse into the past, and to her shock, the past she discovers is her own, for the letters were written by her birth father.

As the secrets of the past come to light, Anne is flooded with memories of a happy childhood turned tragic by her mother’s death, the abandonment, the mistreatment, feelings of not belonging and the insecurity of having no place to call home that followed, and finally, by sheer accident, ending up at Green Gables.

Though she’s a successful writer, a loving mother and now a widow, there’s something missing in her life. She has a deep yearning to learn who she is on the level that can only be satisfied by knowing her roots. She wants insight into the closely-guarded family mysteries and motivations behind manipulations, answers to questions that only her last blood relative is able reveal—her long-lost, now elderly, father. It’s been forty years since she’s last seen him and their encounters in the past have always led to disappointment and heartbreak, but still, she hangs on to one last hope for healing, reconciliation and now clarity. She seeks him out. Will he open up to his daughter who desperately needs to connect? Or will he take the family secrets to his grave, once again, abandoning his child? Join Anne on her journey of self-discovery as what she learns is hardly what she expected and way more than what she dreamed.
